INSTRUMENTS for rock
Music cannot be played without instruments, there are so many instruments like guitars, basses, drums, french horn, trumpet, and keyboard. This website is only about rock so the main instruments are electric guitar, bass, and drums. Those instruments are enough to have the greatest rock band ever. But aside instruments you might need a singer which sometimes the guitar player is the singer, or there is a single singer and the guitar player is a backup vocalist. There are some bands that have no singers and just an instrumental band.
electric guitars
Electric guitars are the main instrument of most rock bands, they first were seen in the 1930s. The most important parts of a guitar are strings, frets, pickups, and tuning knobs. Pickups turn the vibrations of the strings when you pluck them into the electric sound when plugged into an amplifier. Frets are small pieces of metal on the guitar, Between those are called a fret board and when you push down on a string in the middle of the fret board it makes that string sound different. Strings are the things that you pluck with most commonly a pick but can use your fingers. tuning knobs will make the guitar sound a lot better when tuned properly. Some of the best guitar players are Buckethead, Jimi Hendrix, Mick Thomson, Daron Malakian, and Darrell Abbot known to the world as Dimebag Darrell.
Basses
The bass guitar is like a guitar but it has four strings and lower sounds, commonly played with fingers. It can also be played with the palm and thumb, this is called slap bass it is self explanatory you slap the strings of the bass. Bass usually isn't the main Instrument of a band but the band Primus has the bass payer by the name of Les Claypool that is the main instrument of the band. Basses, like guitars also have pickups. Other parts are the body, neck, and the bridge. The bridge is where the strings connect to the body of the bass. The neck of the bass is where the tuning knobs are, some guitars and bases don't have a neck. Some great bass players are Les Claypool, Robert Trujillo, Dan Maines, and Paul Gray.
Drums
Drums are the instrument that I, Raleigh Stenzel, play. Drums are maybe the most important instrument because it keeps a rhythm and beat which is very important to making a song sound good. Another great thing about drums that it has these yellow circular pieces of metal called cymbals. Cymbals usually make a "Crash" sound which is why there is something called a crash cymbal. Parts of a drum set are the snare drum, toms, floor toms, kick drum, and the cymbals. The snare drum has little chains that are called snares on them which is how they get their sound. Toms sound like a snare drum without the snares attached, floor toms sound the same just lower pitch. some of the best drummers are Vinnie Paul, Joey Jordisan, Jean-Paul Gaster, Jocke Wallgreen, Raymond Herrera, and Art Cruz.
